Creative Ways to Hydrate

Before we begin, if you are on a fluid restriction due to complications of treatment and/or other health conditions, please follow the advice from your physician.

TIP 1: UTILIZE YOUR FRUITS. Melons have an extremely high water content with watermelon containing 92% water and cantaloupe and honeydew containing 90% water. Berries are also very high in water content and are found in abundance during the summer months. Here’s a list of the most common berries along with their water content: Strawberries 91%, Blackberries 88%, Raspberries 85%, and Blueberries 84%. Peaches are not just good in pies and cobblers, but they are also a refreshing afternoon snack. A peach is 89% water. These fruits are not just excellent sources of water but also contain fiber and antioxidants to help fuel your body during the day.

TIP 2: UTILIZE YOUR FREEZER. Popsicles and freezer pops are great choices, as are fruit pops. Try making your own fruit pops and skip all the added sugars and preservatives. Experiment by blending fresh fruits with a little bit of water. Tasty combinations can include pineapple and coconut, or banana and mango. Get creative! You can also try frozen juices. Try mixing it up by combining juices and making your own special blend. For example, cranberry and apple, or strawberries and lemonade. Yum!

TIP 3: This one is my personal favorite, summer snack, and is a combination of the 2 tips above: FROZEN GRAPES. If you haven’t tried them before, they are a game changer! You’re welco
